Correlación entre religiosidad, aprendizaje social y abuso de alcohol en estudiantes de dos universidad particulares de la Ciudad de México

El estudio tuvo por objetivo evaluar el efecto de la religiosidad y el uso y abuso de alcohol de padres y amigos, sobre el consumo de esta sustancia en estudiantes de dos universidades particulares de la Ciudad de México. Una muestra no probabilística de 983 estudiantes contestó una escala de religiosidad, y otra sobre la ingesta de alcohol de sus padres, amigos y de ellos mismos. Los resultados mostraron correlaciones directas y significativas entre el consumo de los amigos, los padres, y el consumo de los estudiantes. Los coeficientes de correlación entre religiosidad y consumo de alcohol por los estudiantes fueron negativos, muy débiles y no alcanzaron niveles de significancia estadística. Por otro lado las correlaciones entre el consumo de alcohol de los padres y sobretodo de los amigos mantienen correlaciones directas y estadísticamente significativas con el consumo de alcohol del estudiante. Los resultados del análisis de correlación son similares en las dos universidades muestreadas. Comparaciones entre las dos universidades muestran diferencias significativas entre ambas, en cuanto al nivel de religiosidad y el consumo de alcohol, siendo mayores los puntajes promedio de religiosidad y de consumo de alcohol en la muestra poniente. Una comparación entre sexos mostró mayor consumo en los estudiantes de sexo masculino. Los resultados sugieren que un programa preventivo para las instituciones en cuestión, no debería centrarse exclusivamente en el desarrollo espiritual de los estudiantes. En cambio debería centrarse en el desarrollo de habilidades que le permitan al estudiante resistir la presión para el consumo, de amigos y padres. El programa en cuestión, también debería diseñarse con una perspectiva de género.
