Replicación de los Resultados de Baltes Sobre la Muerte de Ancianos Asociada a Eventos Significativos.

Abstract

To identify, in two old peoples homes in Mexico City, if the phenomenon of the inclination to the death associated to significant events exists according to the proposed by Baltes. Material and methods. We worked with the files of two old people's homes, a governmental and other institutionof private attendance of religious type; in these files the deaths of year 1992 were identified until the 2002. A computerized format was used where the general performances were registered, dates of enter the institution, date of birthday, dates of deaths, to identify the deaths associated to significant events that home appears in each house. Results. Indications that are observed there is a relative degree of control of the moment ofthe death in both houses home that agrees with the reported thing in literature by Baltes for younger populations (1977). Conclusions. The data show when dying like a phenomenon that can be controlled by the same person, demonstrates to the election of the dates of death according to important dates for the residents in old peoples homes. It exists within groups of institutionalized people phenomena of linking of deaths per defined times.
