Intelligence as behavior: A conceptual analysis

Abstract

Intelligence is conceptually analized as a dispositional category. Intelligence is identified with the tendency to engage in varied and effective acts, and based in these criteria, intelligent behavior is distinguished from other kinds of behavior. The functional structure of behavior is analized in terms of the organization of skills, competence and aptitudes. Several issues fundamental to experimental research of the acquisition and evolution intelligence are proposed, stressing their revelance to the study of psychological development.
