Biografía del autor/a

Pablo González Casanova, UNAM

Doctor en sociología por la Universidad de París, en 1950. Su labor docente la ha combinado con su productiva actividad de investigación desde 1948. En 1957 se le designó director de la Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales, y en 1970 fue electo rector de la UNAM. En 1986 fundó y dirigió por ocho años el Centro de Investigaciones Interdisciplinarias en Ciencias y Humanidades de la UNAM (CEIICH). En mayo de 1984, fue distinguido como Investigador Emérito y Profesor Emérito de la UNAM. Por su amplia labor teórica y universitaria ha recibido diversos reconocimientos: el premio José Martí otorgado por la UNESCO (2003) y la Orden José Martí en Primer Grado, máxima condecoración del gobierno de Cuba (2004). Algunas de sus obras más sobresalientes son Las nuevas ciencias y las humanidades: de la academia a la política, 2004, y La democracia en México, 1965, entre otros. casanova@servidor.unam.mx
