Abstract
Introduction. It is necessary to promote a nursing care approach that seeks to promote positive aging by including interventions and strategies to improve quality of life and maintain physical, cognitive and social health. In this sense, art can play a crucial role as it favors various spheres of the human being. The aim of this paper is to discuss how art as nursing care can promote successful and positive aging in primary care. Development. In the first level of health care for older adults, it is necessary to have a preventive and comprehensive health promotion approach that allows to understand the needs of attention and care by nursing, which are not always directed to physical deterioration and more often respond to emotional and social needs. Art is a strictly human resource that is beneficial in various areas of health, in the case of older adults, such as occupational therapy, cognitive stimulation strategy, alternative therapies and gamification; since it is a connection with personal history, it generates an artistic product and its spatio-temporal relationship during the creation process allowing the expression of the person. Conclusions. Art is a care strategy to approach aging from a positive and successful point of view, it should be taken up again as a beneficial nursing care strategy in older adults, its contribution in improving the quality of life is reflected in various areas of human existence.
