Abstract

This article presents various aspects of the current complexity of social intervention, the changes of the settings where social intervention is taking place in, as well as the transformation of the institutions; all developed from a point of view focused on the American crossed by a series of contextual elements. Thus, social intervention requires deep analysis elements that explain the new possibilities of the intervention. The subject is developed from the Michel Foucault’s concept of “device” understood as a manner of approaching to such complexity, also from a perspective that allows to think of the social intervention not only as a continuity of a punitive practice, but also as a possibility of resistance or freedom construction. At the same time, this article deals with the aspects related to the tension between emancipation and freedom that go through the practices based on Modernity. On the other hand, this work refers to the possibilities of developing a specific social intervention epistemology.
