Abstract

The change of orientation of the world economy, from both the national economies and the regional blocs towards more and more liberal economic trends since the late 1970s, accelerated in the 1980s until it became hegemonic in the 1990s. This change raised objectives that have not been reached, on the contrary, the crisis and current vulnerability of the global economy and especially of the so-called developed economies, is the result of this change of orientation. It is in this perspective that the signature of the Free Trade Agreement of Latin America (NAFTA) must be placed 20 years ago.
