Abstract

"Everything that bothers, with which you do not agree, is populist"

(Jose Mujica)

These days marks the first decade of what has been called the Great Recession, when in September 2008 Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy in the United States of America. Then it was found that the problem was of the system, not of an institution. Although this scenario began in the US and quickly became more complex, similar conditions made it possible for it to spread to other parts of the world, especially due to its economic importance to the European Union, although its effects were global. Also, there is a crisis of economic and political thought that has served as a reference until now. This set of elements would be the cause or, at least, the catalyst of the current populism, the phenomenon that has been referred to mostly whenever you want to disqualify something (or someone) with what is not agreed, be it the right or left.
