Abstract
The objective of this paper is to analyze the behavior of credit and financing in the economies of Mexico and Brazil from the beginning of the XXI century, analyzing the consequences of the modifications made to their banking systems in the 1990s. Examining its role in times of crisis and recession, particularly in the face of the global financial crisis of 2007-2008.
