Rural poverty and vulnerability 2008-2018. Impact of money transfers on rural poverty

Abstract
Despite the importance of the population of Mexico in rural areas and the economic activity they carry out, it has been characterized by its historical condition of poverty and limited development opportunities. In rural areas and among the non-poor, monetary transfers represent 21.7% of the household's monetary income and 28.9% among the population in poverty. Among them, money transfers via internal and international remittances and monetary income from government programs are the most important, without these resources, the number of poor would be just over 19 million, 12.7% more than those estimated considering both items, poverty extreme rural would reach 6.3 million people, 26.2% more than estimated, while moderate poverty would be 12.7 million people instead of those estimated at 11.9 million, 7% more, favoring that the groups that receive them are highly vulnerable Without those resources.
