Abstract

This article highlights the role of bank credit in a small, open economy on the periphery that is experiencing an economic model with monetary sovereignty, macroeconomic stability and economic and social development. Since 2006, Bolivia has promoted a new pattern of social and economic reproduction that has guaranteed a path of growth with stability and social development. This is the Productive Community Social Economic Model (MESCP) that highlights the social function of the financial system with the productive use of bank credit to meet the need for financing productive activities in strategic sectors of the economy, generating employment and income with special attention to the demand of micro and small enterprises, artisans and community organisations of producers that allowed an experience for the promotion of production for the common good.
