Social solidarity economy and social finance: A proposal for analysis from the Savings and Loan Cooperative Societies in Morelos
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research text focuses on studying the experiences of Social Solidarity Economy (SSE) in Mexico, specifically the role of Savings and Loan Cooperatives (SOCAP) as social financial entities and as a fundamental part of the social economy sector in Mexico. The aim of this text is to analyze the functioning, organization, and influence of SOCAP in two specific regions of the state of Morelos, Mexico. Utilizing theoretical and empirical contributions from the Latin American school of SSE, this text attempts to analyze SOCAP as financial entities that operate with their own resources and use heterogeneous strategies in their processes to remain relevant in the territory. The text also addresses the tensions that SOCAP face with the State, the market, and other organizations of the SSE. However, despite these tensions, it is asserted that SOCAP plays a key financial role in territorial economic reorganization.
