Abstract
For Olmedo Beluche no theory is able to cover all aspects of reality, but at same time without theories we would not be able to interact with the real world. In this essay the Panamanian sociologist outlines what he calls “The theory of independence” from the criticism of the official history of Our America which has been at the service of the Creole oligarchy. And related to the commemoratives acts of the Bicentennial celebrated this year in the region, he told us that in no country was proclaimed Independence from Spain except Mexico in 1810 by the priest Miguel Hidalgo.
