Abstract

The Venezuelan historian Alejandro Cardozo Uzcátegui in this essay forges new inroads into Bolivarian historiography. Bolívar for him goes beyond the daguerreotye of hero-saint, as a key to sustaining the idea of a Venezuelan nation and the greater part of South America, at least since the end of the nineteenth century. And he supports his reflections with an unknown document found in Spanish historical archives during his search of these archives, a document that fills the empty spaces of the historiography of Bolivar´s youth in Spain.
