Impact of PREVENIMSS an Educational Intervention in Lifestyle in Men aged between 20 and 59

Abstract

Objective: to evaluate the impact of prevenimss program, an educational intervention in lifestyle and level of knowledge about self-care of health in men aged between 20 and 59 years. Material and methods: a quasi-experimental research. There were included men aged between 20 and 59 years who signed an informed consent. Prior to the learning style identification it was designed an educational strategy which included the following: 24 sessions, two days per week during three months. It was evaluated the level of knowledge of the prevenimss guide through an instrument expressly developed and validated. Lifestyle was assessed through the instrument Profile of Lifestyle Health Promoter II (peps ii). The data was analyzed using the Student’s t for related samples, and the statistical significance considered was p< of 0.05. Results: the learning style was reflective; and the level of knowledge was significant in all domains, the greatest knowledge was presented in sexual and reproductive health. Significant changes in all domains were observed in the lifestyle: responsibility in health 19.86 ± 1.27 to 25.53 ± 0.87; physical activity 14.53 ± 0.95 to 20.66 ± 0.65; nutrition 20.20 ± 1.26 to 25.33 ± 0.80, spiritual developing 24.93 ± 1.25 to 27.93 ± 0.90, interpersonal relationships of 22.86 ± 1.39 to 27.20 ± 0.90 and management of stress 16.73 ± 0.95 to 21.46 ± 0.73. Conclusions: health education based on the style of learning, modifying the lifestyle.
