Abstract
Objective: to evaluate the association between folate and vitamin C intake and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (cin) in women attending the dysplasia service of the Obstetrics Hospital 221 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (imss) in the State of Mexico. Methods: a study nested to the project “R-2016-1503-35” performed in 179 women with and without cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, to evaluate the intake of folates (μg/d) and vitamin C (mg/d) through a Food Frequency Questionnaire (ffq, semiquantitative) with 116 foods and 10 consumption frequencies analyzed using the Evaluation System of Nutritional Habits and Nutrient software. Results: vitamin C intake showed a higher media (143 mg/d) in women with cin-ii. Folate intake showed a higher median (1017.5 µg/d) in women with cin-iii and a low positive Rs correlation of 0.158 (p<0.005) was identified between cin and folate diagnoses. Conclusions: there was a low positive intergroup association with respect to folate intake, as well as a moderate and high positive intragroup association with respect to vitamin C and folate intake.
