Abstract

Decisions on scientific-tecnological issues with far reaching social and environmental repercussions should be made with the participation of all affected parties, after thoroughly debating the risks they entail and ways to face them. While in the case of corn, Mexico lacks a broad national debate, the ethically correct approach is to suspend trnsgenic technologies ond promote other, traditional technologies with lower social, cultural, and environmental risks.
