Writting the pain and spelling it with the body: El animal sobre la piedra e isla partida by daniela tarazona

Abstract

This paper aims at analyzing the variations of pain in El animal sobre la piedra and Isla Partida by Daniela Tarazona. It seeks to explain how, through literary means such as metamorphosis and the process of unfolding, it is possible to define the limits of an aching body, and direct it towads an identity and linguistic transformation. This paper will assess Sarah Ahmed’s theory of affection, as well as the study of different literary terms used to represent pain in literary settings. Likewise, this work gives insight into the concept of writing from the body coined by Helène Cixous and her femenine writing. This perspective allow us to give a definition of the aching body and establish a causal relationship between the grammar of pain and the fragmentation of language. The aforementioned mechanisms contribute to the formulation of an aphasic writing inscribed within the aching body, given that this grammar of pain directly disrupts the fluidity of language.
