Chichimeca people at the Chronic of Juan de Grijalva

Abstract

As a document created in the decades following the Spanish invasion, the Chronicle of the Order of Our Father Saint Augustine in the Provinces of New Spain by Juan de Grijalva is of great interest to establish the point of view of the Augustinian order about the Chichimeca ethnic group, in the regions of America recently colonized by Europeans, and particularly in the region of the Sierra Gorda. The Chronicle is relevant to understanding the complex social fabric and social conditions which followed.
