Priority Objectives 2020-2024 of the National Defense of the Mexican State

Abstract

The mexican State, in order to achieve its purposes and interests aimed at protecting the population, maintaining territorial integrity, ensuring the permanence of its democratic institutions and guaranteeing the sovereignty and independence of the nation, proposes policies that are exposed in the National Defense Sector Program 2020-2024, hence the goal of this paper was to analyze the priority objectives set forth in that official document in terms of their thematic orientation, based on the construction of weighted categories of content analysis. The general result of the research was that out of a total of six objectives, only one is directly related to national defense and security, which may be a consequence of political, historical, and bureaucratic considerations that determine the priority actions of the Armed Forces.
