The environmental management systems and their application in the Mexican Farming industry: A brief overview

Abstract

This research develops a brief teorical review about the situation that encompasses the implementation of the Environmental Management Systems (EMS) in the case of the agricultural enterprises of Mexico, because it is claimed that these EMS can improve their environmental performance. It is an eminently descriptive study supported by the review made to different sources of the documentary type, about issues related to environment aspects, the performance of agricultural enterprises, the administration of technology in the agro–industrial sector, the certification through systems like ISO 14001, among others. This research aims to contribute with theoretical elements that arouse interest of researchers in this important sector, not just for Mexico’s economy, but for other international level matters, because it requires a lot of research in environmental issues.
