Right to the education in the school routine
Main Article Content
Abstract
The right to education is not only a question of classrooms, teachers, desks and keeping children in school. All members of a school community are duty-bearers of the right to education and, consequently, of all the other children ́s rights. All members of a school community need to reflect collectively about the quality of the services they offer. This can not only be measured by the learning outcomes, but also by the concrete conditions in which children live at school, the quality of the relationships adults establish with them and amongst peers, which will determine the human climate in schools, and the activities children are invited to develop on a daily basis. The article starts with a reflection on the legal framework that has been established in all countries that have signed the International Convention of the Rights of the Child (UN, 1989), following a discussion of the categories that can be elicited from this document for education and then we develop a critical approach to think about public policy for education and about the daily practices at school.
