Abstract

The society is characterized by global integration; knowledge is used by many spatial dimensions, from the physical to the virtual and from the enterprise to the city or region. Therefore, it’s important to establish processes that allow their beneficial use in the competitiveness, sustainability and quality of life. Technological scientific vocation is a component of the Spatial Knowledge Management (SKM) and analyzes the associated generation capabilities to the territory in a process of network integration. This document is an approach to clarify the skm as a unifying concept, for it, it is divided into three parts: first, the conceptual and methodological framework; second, its application to the analysis to Guanajuato and San Luis Potosi, and the third as a conclusion, an agenda of areas of opportunity for an integration of the knowledge-based urban and regional development performance.
