Noise pollution in zone 3 in the city of Queretaro: comparison of actual noise levels and those perceived by inhabitants
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article describes the damage caused by noise exposure levels in different scientific studies. The in situ decibel measurements are shown as well as the results of an exploratory study that presents the perception of 168 inhabitants in a determined zone in the city of Queretaro regarding noise pollution, with the objective of finding the degree of perceived affectation to determine if there is concordance between them. This article is part of an investigation aimed at developing a noise reduction product for housing. Our findings indicate that, although nearly 60% of respondents preceived the noise of the area with high levels, and identify vehicles and motorcycles as the most annoying source of noise, people are not aware of the effects it has on the performance of their activities as a consequence of the noise pollution levels in the area.
