Abstract

Andrés Blaisten, XXth century avantgarde Mexican art collector, considers that art reflects culture, and that young people should become acquainted with it to reaffirm their national identity. It’s essential for human beings to enjoy and understand art. The Blaisten Collection shelters several works by Gerardo Murillo (aka Dr. Atl). According to Blaisten, Dr. Atl is the best landscape painter of the last 100 years. His work shows a beautiful Mexico. Through him, we understand there’s something deeper than the immediate, than the surrounding violence. He’s an oasis that gives us redeeming hope.
