Abstract

Universities are institutions sui generis. By common historical roots and yet are deeply rooted in their respective society. despite being traditionally elitist institutions, modern universities have offered social mobility before margins. Created groups during the Middle Ages to transfer Knowledge and provide the requisite training for a few key professions, universities have become, through fundamental research in important generators of new Knowledge.
Today, the UNAM is located in the center of the society. Es the most important institution within the complex process of creation and distribution of knowledge. The UNAM is central to the delivery of training needed for a growing number of specialties, are of great importance for society modern. Has assumed a political role in society: often is the center of though and also political action, in addition to those who will form the elite members of this essay politics. A brief historical sketch of the emerging sociological México City, its popular characters and violent, and the founding of the UNAM, where the two stories intersect shaping the future of science, teaching and knowledge.
