Abstract
One of the Nicolai Hartmann worries was to elucidate what is and what characterizes a piece of art. His work Aesthetics (published in 1953) explored the different artistic expressions: painting, sculpture, architecture, etc. He considers that art is a phenomenon that has stratums, they start in the material and go to the unreal. The author sustanis that they could not reduce or get confussed with a conceptual aspect. The piece of art conteins itself as a sensible representation. Following Kant´s philosophy, art is not in the comprehension, it is in the intuition. This is previous to the explanation. The aesthetic phenomenon is a revelation to the consciousness. That is its ontology. This contribution gives us a defense of art, it saves it from the idea that art is fashion or only an agreement.
