Self-efficacy and self-regulation in the treatment of weight loss and control

Abstract
Obesity is considered to be the result of poor nutrition and an increase in sedentary activity. In most households, mothers are responsible for choosing food for the family, and while there are various factors that influence this choice, economic development has a major impact. Consuming foods high in saturated fats and sugars also leads to malnutrition, with repercussions on our health that are even more dangerous than the consequences of malnutrition secondary to a lack of caloric intake. Therefore, this study defines and explores self-efficacy in overweight and obese women during a period of weight loss and the adoption of healthy habits. The results obtained indicated that greater self-efficacy is associated with less conflict in making the decision to lose weight, being considered more positively in the group of overweight patients than in patients with obesity.
