Abstract

This paper addresses a recent Initiative of Calderón Executive Power, approved by the LX Legislature. The opposition presented by the legislators representing the workers was swept with a set of technocratic "arguments" strategically disseminated by the lobbyist of the Secretaría de Hacienda among the legislators that integrated the Commissions that attended to the issue. Disregarding the impossibility of individual accounts to "guarantee" a dignified retirement standard of life, the horizon of Mexicans receiving pensions trough the System of Savings for Retirement is even darker than it was due to the many looses suffered by the System as a consequence of the financial crisis that began in the US in September of 2008.
