Abstract

The State in independent Mexico was catholic, in the next years it became secular and when the Catholic Church was threatened by socialism and communism postponed his confrontation with the State. When communism was no longer a threat, the clergy claim the power that it had before the 1910 revolution and in part that was the reason for the sparked of the Cristero war. The defense of the secular state has not lapsed, on the contrary, the Catholic Church wants more than the laws allow.
