Abstract

Family teaches different interaction patterns between boys and girls because of gender roles. Motherhood not only differentiates men and women in biological aspects like pregnancy and childbirth, but also in a social and cultural way. Women traditionally have been valued by their motherhood, whereas men consider the paternity as a way of masculinity. Nowadays, the mother and father responsibilities have been modified because of the fact that many women have a wage-earning work outside home. Thus, the objective of this work is to analyze the role of men and women as far as the paternity and maternity, and its relation with feminine empowerment.
