Abstract

Psychological wellbeing has a multifactorial nature and it is in relation with many other categories, such as life conditions, life style, way of living and quality of life. The term quality of life includes subjective perception element, and that’s why many authors talk about perceived quality of life, personal satisfaction or subjective wellbeing. Life satisfaction has an accord between person and environment as start point. So, quality of life is a wide concept including objective dimension as well as subjective dimension. Psychological wellbeing has a social and cultural determination, and there is a dialectic relatioship between biological, social and psychological factors, being personality an important regulatory system. We believe that psychological wellbeing is, indeed, quality of life subjective dimension, that is, a subjective more or less stable experience, as consecuence of life satisfaction judgement (balance between expectancies and achivements) in those more significati areas for each person. All of this is mediated by personality and by social, historical and cultural conditions in which individual life goes on.
