Abstract

In this article, the use of the PhET virtual simulator is described as a support tool for learning mathematics, with students of the Fundamentals of Algebra and Elementary Mathematics modules of the Virtual Distance Learning Baccalaureate of the Virtual University of the State of Guanajuato. This simulator was used in the February, March, April and May modules during the virtual advising sessions carried out via Meet, with students who voluntarily requested synchronous sessions to improve their understanding of the academic content of the virtual classroom. There were on average three students per module. The students verbally expressed great satisfaction at increasing their understanding of concepts that they considered abstract and difficult to understand, which they attributed to the fact that the simulator facilitated the concrete visualization of abstract concepts, an understanding that was reflected in an improvement in their grades and delivery to the 100% of your learning evidence.
