Abstract
Introduction: The objective of this study was to estimate the average of cephalometric mandibular values of Mexican 6-years-old children, according to its facial byotipe, all of them residents in Mexico City. Methods: 100 craniolateral radiographies of 6-year-old children with class I occlusion and with no orthodontic nor orthopedic treatment were used for this study. Average values of mandibular measures were determined, besides twelve points of the analysis of McNamara were measured; and this values were divided according to the facial byotipe. Results: Male patients presented an increased size in their skeletal structures than female patients. The total sample presents a dolichofacial pattern in its majority. Regarding mandibular measures, the values were bigger in the dolichofacial patients group for both genders, except in the height of the mandibular branch. Conclusions: This study demonstrates that cephalometric differences exist among the different facial biotypes and among the different genders.
