Abstract

The objective of the study was to determine dental attention necessities in pediatric patients with HIV/AIDS using CPO-D Index, Oral Hygienic Index, the prevalence of malocclusions, and the evaluation of the concordance between both indexes. Methods: 47 HIV/AIDS patients treated at Immunodeficiency Clinic at Hospital Infantil de México (CLINDI) were included. Evaluation of concordance between IHOS y CPO-D was made in a continuous scale and categorical groups, using intraclass correlation coefficient with significance of 0.05. Results: 93% of the patients had regular oral hygiene and 62% presented malocclusions. There is also a discrepancy between CPO-D Index and IHOS. Conclusion: the results were not the expected ones for children who are being treated in a third level hospital.
