Abstract
The interview with Ambrosio Velasco explores the concept of Indigenous peoples of the Americas from philosophical, cultural, and historical perspectives. Velasco challenges the Eurocentric narrative placing Greece as the cradle of philosophy, highlighting the autonomy and cultural richness of Mesoamerican and Inca civilizations. He also reflects on modernity, mestizaje, acculturation, and the persistence of cultural hegemonies that impact these communities’ well-being.
