Abstract

This article analyses college education today in the light of the most important changes undergone in most spaces of the social life at the end of the century: economic globalization, the redefinition of the role of the state and the scientific and technological revolution. The text is focused in five fundamental forces which are transforming college education: the technological application to academic life, real and virtual mobility of students and teachers, the imperative of permanent education, the greater interaction with working spaces and the new role of teachers and students in the process of learning-teaching. Likewise, the article analyses some of the consequences of these changes and points out the importance of postgraduate studies to articulate and find new paths for university education.
